Floatlink
Floating link previews for your browser

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 10, 2026

Floatlink opens links in a floating window over the page you're on. It does not collect, sell or share your data, and nothing about your browsing is sent to the developer or anyone else.

What Floatlink does not do

Data that stays in your browser

Your settings

Your trigger key, preview size, toggles and the list of sites where you switched Floatlink off are saved with your browser's built-in extension storage (chrome.storage.sync). If browser sync is on, your browser syncs them across your own devices through your browser account. The developer never receives them.

While a preview is open

To show a page in the floating window, Floatlink keeps track, in your browser's memory, of which tab has a preview open and which sites it is showing. This is used only to apply its page-loading rules and remove them again, and it is cleared when the preview closes.

Site icons

Site icons in the preview's title bar are read from your browser's own local icon cache.

Network requests

Floatlink loads the pages you choose to preview, just as your browser would if you opened them in a tab. It makes a request of its own in one case only: if a preview is blocked because a link redirects to another site, it sends one HEAD request, without cookies, to the link's own website to find out where the link leads.

Permissions

Floatlink asks for access to all websites, because you can preview a link to any website. It uses that access only to show the floating window and to let the previewed page load inside it. It does not read or collect the contents of the pages you visit.

Children

Floatlink does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
